NOCP Director Role

For this year’s NOCP we are taking applications for the NOCP Director Role.

Role Purpose:

  • In the months prior to July, Co-Coordinators will work with the NOCP Director to plan and prepare for NOCP. Come June, the Director will work under the supervision of the Kodiak Ocean Tribe (KOT) Director, Lukas Bercy, and Kodiak Ocean Tribe Program Director, Tasnah Bercy, to run NOCP with a team of 2-3 Co-Coordinators.

  • The Director will work with KOT Directors to secure the Co-Coordinator team. The NOCP Director will be responsible to oversee the Co-Coordinator team in all planning and preparations for NOCP including logistical, marketing and programming (details of Co-Coordinator roles are listed below).

  • Director will report to KOT Directors.

Scope of Responsibilities

The following responsibilities/tasks are shared by the Co-coordinators with the support of the Director:

This includes leading (or working with other staff) our fishing, hiking, and education programs.

Pre-NOCP:

  • Meet with Kodiak Ocean Tribe staff beginning in December and support selection of Co-Coordinators

  • Facilitate 1-1.5 hour weekly Zoom meeting with the Co-Coordinators starting in January leading up to July

  • Oversee development and planning of educational components, themes and topics

  • Oversee logistical preparations

  • Oversee registrations and marketing

  • Ensure that program remains in budget

  • Communicate details of NOCP program and local community involvement to Kodiak pastors

During NOCP:

  • Serve as the on-site lead for NOCP

  • Oversee Co-Coordinator team in running NOCP

  • Report to KOT Directors as needed for support

Post-NOCP:

  • Assist KOT directors in completing financial reporting

  • Lead debrief with Co-Coordinators

  • Remain an extra two days post-program to work with Co-Coordinators and ensure facility is completely cleaned and broken down

Requirements:

  • Have a passion for fishing, nature, and developing your faith (or be willing to discover it)

  • Be excited to create a encouraging, positive, and spiritual environment for participants and staff

  • Available for 1-1.5 hour Zoom meeting weekly leading up to July

  • Attend the full program; core staff arrive sometime the week of June 14 and depart July 30

  • Workshop leading experience preferred, but not required

  • Must be an NOCP Alumni; past NOCP leadership experience strongly encouraged, but not required

  • All expenses covered by NOCP: Domestic transportation to and from Kodiak is covered by NOCP (roughly $1500) (international applicants will have percentage comparable to a domestic flight covered). Food & lodging. Fishing license ($200).

  • Additional stipend of $2,000-4,000 depending on experience

    • **If not a US citizen, you must have a US work visa to receive the stipend. HSA UWC cannot sponsor a work visa.

  • 50lb fish box!
